TV Studio Production - Feedback!

Today we watched back the children's TV shows that we created as a class. As we watched the shows, we were all given feedback and tips for our next assignments. This was a very useful lecture because we got to see what improvements we needed to make and also what we had done well. I noted down all of the feedback that we got, even other peoples feedback because it might help my group in the future.

  1. Close ups should be as high as possible to see the whole item.
  2. Presenters need to be aware of hand positioning.
  3. Microphone positioning on clothes is important - no rubbing or scratching.
  4. When talking about an item, a close up is always best.
  5. Presenters should know what camera they are talking to.
  6. Colour works better as it stands out rather than white.
  7. Camera framing so all of the object, person, etc is in shot.
  8. More personality in the presenter makes the show more interesting.
  9. Scripts shouldn't be revised just hitting the correct points at the right times.
I found this lecture really useful because we got to see an audience reaction as well as giving each other feedback. The points that were made were applicable to everyone's shows and you could tell they were are first TV Studio productions. I look forward to working on our main assignment now that we have had some practice in the studio and used all of the equipment.

Something that really stood out about our show was the set because our set designer had put a lot of effort in to this. This is something we should take away from this exercise and use this technique in the future. Being committed to the design of the set allowed our production to look much more professional. Something that we should focus on is the entertainment value of our productions because ours lacked the jokes and banter that some of the others shows had.

Hopefully I can get a copy of this show to share with you shortly!
